FINVIZ is a website with great tools that do more than just filter out stocks that meet your desired criteria. It features sector and industry scans that narrow down the best performing ones based on a daily, weekly, monthly, three month, and so on timeframes. It too includes heat maps to pick out the top performing stocks, exchange traded funds (ETF's), and stocks outside of the U.S.
FINVIZ also includes various news from sources such as Bloomberg, Yahoo Finance, Reuters, Market Watch, CNN, and the Wall Street Journal. Information on insider trading as to who's buying what or who's dumping this and that. They too have several comparisons on brokers, research, hardware, data, etc; so you can better compare and make more informed decisions. In my opionon zecco is a good broker becuase they offer free trades if you have more than 25 trades/month or an account with $25,000. As of recently I have been supplementing my screening with Finviz. Below is the very basic scan I've been using with some great results:
- Signal-most volatile
- Price-between 1 and 10
- Average volume-over 200K

Just go to that website everyday 15-30 minutes after market close to find great stocks for the following day.
